![]() Trichy, November 21: GK Industrial Park (GKIP), a 600-acre, state-of-the-art, fabrication-focused industrial park in the city, is planning to expand its focus by including the emerging SMB and SME units across the region over the next few months. In a brief chat with ‘SupportBiz’, K.Sriram, CEO of the park said, “With a presence of over 1000 units engaged in fabrication and related activities in Trichy, the town is expected to be a prime destination for power and heavy equipment manufacturing industry. Even though the business across the verticals is not-so-good, we are looking for some investments to be coming in the next calendar year, he said adding that the company has exclusive access to 30 sheds and an acre allotted for budding enterprises across verticals such as bio-tech, fabrication and automobile sectors. He also said that plans are already on for providing solar plant as uninterrupted power supply has been the preference for captive investors and a strong focus has been given for the development of clusters within the park. Sriram also added that the park, which is spread across 600 acres of land, has an enhanced infra facilities including road, water, sewage, communication, raw material yard, parking for trailers, large container lorries. "This will help units in the Trichy region, specially catering to the vendors of Bharat Heavy Engineering Ltd (BHEL). The SME units, apart from servicing BHEL, are also looking at diversifying into other sectors where value addition could result in higher profit margins", he concluded. |
