The Tiruchirapalli Engineering & Technology Cluster (TREAT) was formed by leading entrepreneurs of Trichy through a partial grant from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with a primary aim of enhancing the city’s competitiveness in the global market especially as a manufacturing / fabrication hub. It will also help to position SMEs on a level playing field with large players while helping them retain their character as individual businesses. TREAT has been set up as a Common Facility adjacent to the park, in the land provided by GKIP. The centre, a heavy engineering, fabrication-centric facility, will cater to the tiny, small, and medium industries in the fabrication cluster of Trichy and also support the requirements of large industries.
The centre facilitates use of state-of-the-art machinery for industries that cannot afford the investment; it provides technical assistance and work related services in the critical areas of heat treatment, testing, de-coiling, shearing and other allied activities. It also provides key infrastructure for material handling and an uninterrupted oxygen supply which will enable fabrication units to undertake larger volume orders; the shared facilities centre will enable the units to execute such volumes in shorter time frames.
TREAT also operates and manages other value added services. It functions as a service provider to assist cluster firms in producing value added products, enhancing their productivity and meeting international norms in the fabrication activity. The set up aims at achieving collective efficiencies and gaining access to organized domestic and international markets in manufacturing in general and fabrication sector in particular.
The centre will offer facilities like:
Raw material pre-processing
Heavy metal forming and machining
Post-processing like Shot blasting, painting
and heat treatment
Calibration, testing facilities and a tool room
Training centre including Machinery
Business and Display centre
